YardShare is a brilliant new site with a very simple underlying idea: consolidate pictures of homeowner’s yards onto one website, and make the characteristics of these yards easily searchable. Let’s face it, how many of us at one time or another have typed in, “patio pictures” for example, in a Google search. What you get back is a mess of sites that you are forced to comb through in order to find what you are looking for. YardShare allows us to simply click a link called “Patio”, and we are shown every yard on the site that has a patio.
YardShare also provides a very user friendly interface for homeowners and landscape designers to upload pictures of their yards, add descriptions, captions, and classify their yard into a variety of different characteristic buckets. Users of the site are able to comment and ask questions of the yard owner by use of a comments system on each individual yard page. Landscape designers will find YardShare to be a new advertising tool, as they can add their contact information and website to every yard in their portfolio.
YardShare just recently launched to the public, but is already gaining momentum with new yards being added to the site daily. I have a hunch that the simplicity and novelty of this site will make it very useful tool for the online community of homeowners.
