Trowels are also essential gardening tools. There are many different size blades to consider when picking out a trowel. A trowel with a narrow blade is ideal for digging in firmly packed soil. However, rounded heads usually allow you to dig faster because of their wider blades. No matter which shape blade you select you should make sure that it is made of steel because it will last the longest. There are many different handle styles for a variety of trowels. You should pick the type of handle that works best for your personal preferences.

A pruner is a type of gardening tool that allows you to remove dead, damaged or diseased portion of the plant. It also makes trimming back rose bushes easier. A good pruner will make a clean cut on the stem of the plant and avoid tearing or damaging the stalk. Try to select a pruner that you feel comfortable with, has blades that can be sharpened, and have replaceable parts.

A hoe is another vital tool for rose gardeners. Hoes can be used to extract weeds and break up topsoil. Again, you should choose a long lasting steel blade and it may be helpful to choose a hoe with a small head making it easy to maneuver between plants.
